FINAL PROTOTYPE

THE FINAL PROTOTYPE

With time running out I opted to just have simple brightness and color control over the top LED from the sonars, anything more complicated caused timing and blocking issues (although it may be possible to solve this with interrupts). LED control in general is huge topic to go into but with the hardware element in place I intend to continue to work on some more complex patterns in future.

As much as I wanted to have drilled holes for the distance sensors, I was advised that given the curved angle and type of plastic I risked cracking the casing. For now the sensors are taped on and the wires run through the top of the front plate.

I also opted for using pins and female to female jumpers throughout the wiring and strip-board to allow for easy swapping of parts if needed. Below are a few images of the circuit diagram, current wiring and case setup:

I’ve left room for a passive signal multiplier (always good on modular synths) and also a large space on the left for a USB-MIDI to CV converter… one day…

PLEASE SEE THE PRESENTATION SLIDES FOR A FULL DEMO OF THE SYNTH.
